
Accompanied by Tatu City management, Stephen Jennings, CEO and Founder of Rendeavour — Africa’s largest city builder and the owner and developer of Tatu City met with key government officials, including Mr. Abubakar Hassan Abubakar, Principal Secretary, State Department for Investments; Dr. Kenneth Chelule, CEO of the Special Economic Zones Authority (SEZA); and directors from the Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA).
As one of Kenya’s largest coffee producers and the biggest miller of Kenyan coffee, Tatu City emphasized its readiness to partner with the government to strengthen the Kenyan coffee brand internationally, improve value addition, and expand export competitiveness.

The Deputy President welcomed the discussions, reaffirming the government’s commitment to SEZ policy growth, investment promotion, and revitalizing the coffee sector.
Tatu City, Rendeavour’s flagship development in Kenya, welcomes 25,000 people daily who live, work, and study within its dynamic community. The city is home to more than 100 companies, either operational or under development, representing over KES 400 billion in investment from Kenya, the United States, China, United Kingdom, Norway, United Arab Emirates, New Zealand, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, and South Africa, as well as major international institutions such as the World Bank, African Development Bank, British Investment International, U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, Finnfund, Norfund, Soros Economic Development Fund, and Grand Challenges Canada.

Firms setting up operations in the Tatu City SEZ benefit from a range of incentives, including a 10% corporate tax rate for the first 10 years and 15% for the following 10 years, compared to the standard 30%. Businesses also enjoy VAT zero-rating on goods and services, as well as exemptions on import duty and stamp duty.
